UPDATE: Arkansas Woman Killed in Motorcycle Crash on I-70
The Kansas Highway Patrol worked a fatality accident on Thursday, June 22 in western Saline County.
The KHP report indicates that the accident occurred 10:14 am, on I-70 westbound at mile marker 238, or I70 Westbound, less than a mile east of Brookville Road. A 2008 Harley Davidson was westbound in the left lane on I-70. The motorcycle's rear tire blew out causing the bike to lose control and lay over. The driver and passenger were thrown from the bike, landing in the center median.
The driver, 52-year-old Kevin Pierce of Paragould, Arkansas, was taken to SRHC for suspected serious injuries. His passenger, 40-year-old Mary Pierce of Paragould, Arkansas, was taken to SRHC where she was pronounced deceased. Both were reported to have been wearing half a helmet.
At 10:15 am on Thursday, June 22, first responders were dispatched to mile marker 238 on I-70, in western Saline County, for an apparent vehicle accident. Reports indicate that two people are injured. Traffic is being controlled near the Hedville exit, with the driving lane open to move traffic and the passing lane blocked by the incident. Traffic will be diverted at the Brookville exit to the Hedville exit to keep traffic moving. A rescue helicopter is en route. Salina311 will have more information as it becomes available.
