A Salina man was arrested after Deputies responded to his Salina home, in connection with his wife being dragged by a vehicle on the Interstate.
Sheriff Soldan says that Deputies were sent to the 1900 block of Haskett on the evening of Sunday, May 7. It was discovered that the alleged incident had actually occurred on Interstate 70 at mile marker 254, in the westbound lanes. At 4:57 pm, Mr Bastin was allegedly driving with his 28-year-old wife, her 11-year-old and 9-year-old daughters, and his 2-year-old son. The adults were allegedly in an argument, and Mr Bastin reportedly shoved his wife out of the vehicle at speeds of 50 mph. The victim suffered severe road rash.
The wife got hung up in the seatbelt and was dragged before she was able to get free. Mr Bastin then pulled over a short distance later and allegedly made his wife's daughters exit the vehicle, leaving them on the shoulder of the Interstate before driving off. Mr Bastin kept his son with him.
At the residence on Haskett, Mr Bastin was arrested in connection to this incident on the requested charges of:
- Aggrevated Battery
- 2 counts Aggrevated Endangerment of Child
