Hit & Run Suspect Arrested After Vehicle Pursuit

On November 20, 2024, Salina Police arrested Colton Allen Miller, 22, following a vehicle pursuit related to a hit and run incident that occurred one week earlier.

According to police reports, the incident began when an officer observed a blue Buick LeSabre, the suspect vehicle from a previous minor collision, in the area of N. 9th and Broadway. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle in a parking lot at 1118 N. 9th, the driver did not immediately pull over.

The pursuit proceeded through several city streets, including Antrim, 8th Street, Otis, 5th Street, and Stimmel, with the vehicle maintaining a top speed of 30 miles per hour. The driver was noted to have obeyed all traffic signals, using turn signals and stopping at stop signs during the pursuit.

The vehicle ultimately stopped at 1846 N. 9th Street, where Miller was taken into custody without incident.

The initial hit and run occurred on November 13, 2024, at approximately 12:50 PM in the Braum's parking lot near Ohio and Prescott. A 75-year-old female driving a 2014 Ford Taurus was reportedly struck from behind by the Buick. According to the report, the male driver of the Buick had allegedly asked the victim not to contact authorities and left the scene without providing contact information.

Miller was arrested for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle and driving while suspended. He also had two outstanding warrants for failure to appear and a probation violation. Miller denied knowledge of the original accident, and the investigation is ongoing.

No injuries were reported in either incident.
