A Downtown hit and run leads to the arrest of a Salina man on requested charges.
Sgt Tonniges says that the accident occurred on Monday, August 14 at 7:15 pm, at the intersection of Santa Fe and Walnut. A gold 2005 Toyota Camry was southbound, stopped at the intersection, driven by a 71-year-old Salina man.
A purple Chevy Venture, driven by 48-year-old Bradley Knight, pulled up behind the Toyota. Witnesses reported that Knight was yelling at a pedestrian on the side of the road, and then rear-ended the Camry twice.
The driver of the Camry pulled over to the side of the road. The two drivers spoke for a moment about insurance, before Knight took off running. He reportedly went northbound on Santa Fe, being followed by a witness, before being found by officers in the 100 block of N 7th. Knight was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested on the following requested charges:
- DUI
- Failure to stop at an accident
- Driving while suspended
- Transporting an open container of alcohol
