High-Speed Motorcycle Chase Ends in Arrest in North Salina

A 36-year-old Ellsworth man was arrested following a high-speed motorcycle pursuit in North Salina on November 30. At approximately 11:15 PM, police observed a black motorcycle make an improper turn in the 1900 block of North Ninth Street before accelerating to 55 mph in a 40 mph zone.

When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the suspect, Jimmy Ray Wells, led police on a chase reaching speeds of 71 mph. The pursuit wound through multiple streets, parking lots, and fields, with Wells driving through ditches and traveling northbound in southbound lanes.

The chase concluded near Pleasant Hill and Ninth Street when Wells abandoned his motorcycle and briefly fled on foot before being apprehended. Requested charges include fleeing and eluding, interference, reckless driving, driving while suspended, and multiple traffic violations.
