After enduring weeks of relatively dry conditions, Salina residents witnessed a dramatic turn in weather patterns as significant rainfall returned to central Kansas Monday, with the National Weather Service recording over 2 inches of precipitation at Salina Regional Airport on Sunday.
The latest deluge marks the end of a particularly dry stretch that had persisted through much of July. Weather data shows that from July 8th through July 16th, the area received virtually no measurable precipitation, raising concerns about drought conditions as temperatures soared.
Monday's rainfall of 2.07 inches represents the heaviest single-day precipitation event recorded in Salina since May 19th, when 1.33 inches fell.
