On Wednesday, July 26, at 6:10 pm, first responders were sent to a single-vehicle rollover accident. Deputies arrived on the scene at 6500 N Ohio, approximately 700 feet south of the Ottawa County line.
According to reports, a red 1999 Chevy Tahoe was traveling northbound on Ohio St when the driver, identified as 65-year-old Shirley Rodriquez of Longfordm, KS, lost control on the gravel road. The vehicle veered off the east side of the road, skidded across to the west side, and turned over at least once during the crash.
Rodriquez was ejected from the vehicle a few feet away. She was the sole occupant in the Chevy Tahoe and was not believed to be wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. EMS transported Rodriquez to SRHC, where she died from her injuries.
