Emergency Management Reports Three Disaster Declarations for Flooding Events in Past Quarter

Saline County Emergency Management Director Michelle Weis presented her third quarter update to the County Commission on Monday, reporting that the county experienced three disaster declarations due to flooding events between July and September.

During her presentation, Weis informed commissioners that two of these declarations advanced to the state level - specifically the July and September flooding events. The county is currently in the damage assessment process with state officials.

"We are currently in the damage assessment process with the state for that," said Weis. "They have sent out a state employee and we have looked at at least 20% of our damages."

According to Weis, state officials will process the assessment information before passing it to the federal government. The timeline for completion of this process is pending the state's return.
