Ell-Saline Cardinals host the Solomon Gorillas

Heading into the Friday night's Homecoming football game, the Ell-Saline Cardinals' record stood at 3-1 while the Solomon Gorillas were 0-4. Both teams are in the 8M D1 - District 3 league.

2024 Ell-Saline Homecoming Candidates:

Isabelle Porter is the daughter of Joe Porter and Shellie Porter. Isabelle participates in volleyball, basketball, softball, and cheer. She is the NHS President, FBLA Co-President, FFA Treasurer, and is involved in STUCO. In her spare time, she enjoys painng, reading, shopping, and coaching a 6th grade girls volleyball team. Isabelle’s plans after high school include attending college to become a Registered Nurse and then in the future, becoming a nurse practioner. Isabelle would like to thank her parents, friends, family, and teachers, for always being there to guide her down the right path for success.

Melvin Lutes is the son of Jack and Zheng Lutes. Melvin partcipates in football, basketball, and track. He is the NHS Vice Pres-ident, FBLA Vice President, and the FFA Reporter. Melvin enjoys hunting, fishing, and hanging out with friends. After high school, Melvin would like to continue his education and become a physical therapist. Melvin would like to thank his friends, family, coaches, and teachers for supporting him all through his life to get him to where he is today.

Kaylin Hornseth is the daughter of Stephanie and Micheal Goetz and Brandon Hornseth. Kaylin participates in volleyball, cheer, track, NHS, FCA, Upward Bound, and FCCLA. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, volunteering with the Brookville Youth Group, coaching a 6th grade volleyball team and listening to music. Kaylin plans on attending a 4-year college after high school; however, is undecided on a major. Kaylin would like to thank her friends and family for always providing her with their unwavering love and support. But most of all, she would like to recognize God and the opportunities he continues to provide her with daily. His love and grace have been her source of strength.

Garrison Zerger is the son of Todd and Krisha Zerger. Garrison participates in cross country, basketball, and track. He is the FFA President, FBLA Co-President, NHS Treasurer, and is also involved in STUCO, and FCA. In his spare time, Garrison enjoys running, playing basketball, wakeboarding, camping, and cruising around town. After high school he plans to attend college and become an Optometrist. Garrison would like to thank his family for always supporting him and encouraging him to do his best and be the best person he can be.

Darby Smith is the daughter of Lance and Lacey Smith. Darby participates in volleyball, track, FCA and NHS. Darby enjoys playing volleyball, running, and reading. After graduation, Darby plans to obtain her business associate’s degree with one more year at Salina Tech. Her plans after that is to work as a leasing agent within the family business, Generation Property Management.

Victor Ruiz-Torres is the son of Victor Ruiz and Cristina Torres. Victor participates in football and track, and is the FBLA Social Media Director, NHS Special Events Planner, is a member of FFA and is on the Leadership Committee. After high school, Victor plans to attend Fort Hays State University and major in Business Finance and then continue his education at KU School of Law to become an attorney. Victor would like to thank God and his family for all the opportunities and guidance they have provided him. He doesn’t know how he would’ve made it without them.
