Early Morning Chase through Central Salina

At 6:25 am on Monday, August 1, the PD received alerts from two license plate readers in regards to a possible stolen vehicle that was driving around town. The alleged vehicle was a purple 2006 Chevy HHR, which was reported stolen out of Hastings, Nebraska.

An SPD officer located the possible vehicle turning west onto Crawford, from Broadway. A traffic stop was attempted on the vehicle in the 1200 block of W Crawford, but the vehicle fled. The chase traveled south on Hancock and through neighborhoods near Sunset Park before stopping in the park. Speeds reportedly reached 63 mph.

The chase lasted approximately 3 minutes. The driver fled on foot and was not located. Drugs were allegedly located in the vehicle. Officers have developed a possible suspect and have requested warrants for their arrest on the following:

  • Felony Flee & Elude
  • Driving while Suspended
  • Failure to Yield at a Stop Sign
  • Speeding
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
