Possible Drunk Driver Causes Motorcycle Accident in West Salina

In an incident on Sunday, June 25, at 4:13 pm, officers responded to a vehicle accident at the intersection of Crawford and Broadway. The accident involved a white 1999 Pontiac Bonneville, driven by 37-year-old Bethany Garcia, and a green Kawasaki motorcycle. Both vehicles were westbound.

Garcia's Pontiac had allegedly rear-ended the stationary motorcycle, which was stopped at a red light. Upon speaking with Garcia, officers believed that she was highly intoxicated. Witnesses reported that prior to the collision, Garcia had ran stop signs, ran over a curb line, and drove fast and erratic.

EMS transported the 21-year-old motorcycle rider, also from Salina, to SRHC for his injuries.

While allegedly resisting arrest, Garcia proceeded to batter a law enforcement officer during her apprehension. Consequently, she was placed in a body wrap. Drug paraphernalia was allegedly located in the vehicle that is believed to have contained possible residue. As a result, Garcia is now facing the following requested charges:

  • Assault
  • Battery on LEO
  • Possession of drug paraphernalian
  • DUI
  • Driving while suspended
  • Interfere w/ LEO
  • No Proof Of Insurance
  • Poss of hallucinogenic drug
  • Poss of opiate
  • Reckless Driving
