Driver Arrested for Felony DUI in Weekend Collision
First responders were dispatched to an injury accident at Broadway and Republic on Saturday, June 17, at 9:38 pm. The incident involved two vehicles, resulting in a significant collision.
A 1997 Pontiac Grand Am, being driven by 44-year-old Matthew Mickey, was traveling southbound on Broadway when the driver allegedly signaled a left-hand turn onto Republic. However, instead of turning, the vehicle proceeded straight and t-boned a 2013 Chevy Equinox, being driven by a 46-year-old female.
The Equinox was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto W Republic when the collision occurred. The driver of the Equinox was transported to SRHC by EMS with minor injuries, while the driver of the Pontiac was not injured.
Upon further investigation, law enforcement officers allegedly discovered that the driver of the Pontiac was intoxicated. A subsequent DUI investigation was conducted, and Mickey was arrested on requested charges of felony DUI.
