On September 6, shortly after 10 PM, local law enforcement responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 1600 block of Sycamore. A 29-year-old female reported an altercation with Jhoban Torres-Simental, 23, from Salina.
According to police reports, Torres-Simental allegedly grabbed the victim's phone, took it outside, and deliberately smashed it. When the victim attempted to leave, he reportedly prevented her departure by placing her in a choke hold. During her escape, she claims he tripped her, causing a cut above her right eyebrow.
The victim sought help at a neighbor's house before contacting authorities. Police subsequently arrested Torres-Simental at the residence without incident.
He has been charged with three offenses: robbery, domestic battery, and criminal damage to property.
