BREAKING: Ongoing Police Standoff in Saline County Following Reports of Gunfire
UPDATE 10:30AM: Suspect in Custody After Shooting at Deputies in Rural Saline County

On January 2, 2025, at approximately 11:55 PM, deputies responded to a 911 call reporting an open line with sounds of a disturbance in the background at 2407 S Woodward Rd. Upon arrival, a female resident with visible injuries fled the residence, and gunshots were heard coming from the property.
Shortly after, additional rounds were fired from the residence toward deputies on the scene. The Salina Police Department, Kansas Highway Patrol, and Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) were called to assist. Armored vehicles and response teams were deployed to the scene.
Throughout the night, multiple shots were fired from the residence, striking the armored vehicles several times. Notably, law enforcement personnel did not discharge their firearms during the incident.
A search warrant for the residence and an arrest warrant for the property owner, 57-year-old Collin Wade Campbell, were issued. Response teams deployed irritants and breached the residence, successfully taking Campbell into custody. He faces numerous felony charges, including:
- Attempted Murder
- Kidnapping of the female resident
- Six counts of Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement Officers
- Misdemeanor Domestic Battery
Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues. Campbell was transported to the hospital for evaluation and, once cleared by medical staff, will be booked into the Saline County Jail.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has been requested to assist in processing the scene. Further details will be released as they become available.
UPDATE 9:16AM: Multiple law enforcement agencies are responding to an active incident near the intersection of Woodward and Magnolia, where an individual has reportedly fired multiple shots from inside a residence throughout the night.
The Saline County Sheriff's Office, Salina Police Department, Kansas Highway Patrol, and Kansas Bureau of Investigation response teams are currently on scene. According to preliminary reports, no injuries have been reported from the gunfire.
Deputies initially responded to the location following reports of a disturbance. The situation escalated when shots were fired from within the residence.
The Saline County Sheriff's Office will provide additional information as it becomes available.

A section of Magnolia Road in Saline County is currently closed due to ongoing police activity. The closure extends from Simpson to Cunningham Road. Additional roads may also be closed in the surrounding area.
There are unconfirmed reports of a standoff situation that began around 12:30 AM. The Saline County Sheriff's Department has declined to comment on the nature of the incident.
