Over 1700 items were donated by drivers who participated in the "Cruise for a Cause" event last Friday, a nod to the bygone era of "cruising Fe" on Friday nights in Downtown Salina. The event raised $658 to support the Salina Emergency Aide Food Bank. Karen Couch, Executive Director of the Food Bank, expressed her appreciation, saying, "Not only was this a delightful evening to share with KWU Friends and Alumni, but the amount of food and hygiene items collected truly gives the Food Bank a boost just before Summer. With the number of families requiring our assistance, we cannot possibly do it without engaging the entire community. Events like the Cruise for a Cause with KWU Serves bring people from all over town together in an effort to stock our pantry shelves!" Cruise for a Cause was based at Kansas Wesleyan University campus, where drivers dropped off their donations before cruising Santa Fe as the sun set.
