County Renews Microsoft Office 365 Subscription at Reduced Cost of $96,755 for 445 Licenses

The Saline County Commission approved the renewal of the county's Microsoft Office 365 subscription during Monday's regular meeting, securing essential digital tools for county operations at a lower cost than the previous year.

IT Director Lauren Humphrey presented the request for approval to the commission, explaining that the subscription ensures continued access to productivity, collaboration, and security tools for 445 named licenses across county departments.

The renewal will cost taxpayers $96,755, which represents a reduction of $8,134 from what was budgeted for the service last year. Humphrey noted that the department was able to achieve these savings by "finagling and dropping some licenses" through streamlining digital operations.

"We were able to drop about $8,134 off of what we asked for last year for this," Humphrey told commissioners.

The IT department selected vendor TommyTQL for the renewal after determining they offered the lowest price available in the market.

Commissioners unanimously approved the renewal through RFA 2025-141 without further discussion.

The Microsoft Office 365 subscription provides county employees with essential productivity software, including email, document processing, spreadsheet capabilities, and cloud storage necessary for daily government operations.
