In the latest County Commission Meeting held on Tuesday, Rural Fire District #3 presented their proposal for the acquisition of a used squad. Fire District #5 recently took delivery of their new squad on January 1, 2024, marking the replacement of their aging 1999 Ford 450 Squad.
The Fire District #3 Board of Trustees convened on December 18, 2023, and unanimously voted to pursue the purchase of the 1999 Ford 450 from Fire District #5 for a total of $37,000. The transaction is now pending approval from the County Commission.
Budget-wise, the acquisition will be funded through District 3's Special Equipment fund, which currently holds a balance of $121,159. Following the approval of the purchase, the fund will retain a remaining balance of $84,159.
The motion to approve the squad purchase received approval from the County Commission.
