County Administrator's Employment Agreement Extended to March 2026

Saline County Commissioners have approved an extension of County Administrator Philip Smith-Hanes' employment agreement through March 2026.

The decision was made during the October 1st, 2024 county commission meeting.

Human Resources Director Marilyn Leamer presented the request for consideration of the administrator's new employment agreement. The term of the agreement is set for 15 months, beginning January 1, 2025, and includes a 3% salary adjustment.

Commissioners inquired about the unusual 15-month timeframe, to which Leamer responded that it was at the request of the current County Administrator. The agreement will run from January 1, 2025, to March 2026.

The 3% salary increase for 2025 was previously included in the county's budget preparation earlier this year. Leamer clarified that this increase covers the full 15-month period and does not include an additional raise in January 2026.

The commission voted 4-0 to approve the employment agreement as presented.

This decision finalizes the County Administrator's contract for the specified period and salary terms.
