Team effort leads to 2-0 victory in hard-fought home matches
The Cougar volleyball team displayed remarkable resilience Wednesday night, overcoming recent injuries to sweep both Emporia and Topeka West in a pair of three-set battles at home on September 18th.
Despite battling injuries for the past two weeks, the Cougars pulled together for a complete team performance that showcased their depth and determination.
Senior Sophie Daily orchestrated the offense masterfully, recording 50 assists while contributing 7 kills across the six sets. Her leadership on the court proved crucial in the team's success.
Defensively, senior Brylee Moss anchored the back row with an impressive 38 digs and 51 good serve receive passes, providing the stability needed in the close contests.
Senior Isabelle Maxton made her presence felt at the net with 9 kills and 8 blocks, while sophomore Elysse Wisker led the offensive attack with 25 kills and added 13 digs on defense. Junior Taaliyah Koster also contributed significantly with 8 kills and 4 blocks.
The Cougars will look to continue their momentum when they travel to Valley Center next Tuesday for their next match.
Looking ahead, the team will celebrate Senior Night on Tuesday, September 30th, which also marks the final day of their sock fundraiser. The Cougars have partnered with Salina Shares to serve as a donation site at all September home games, contributing to the organization's Socktober event and getting an early start on community support.
