Competitive Dance opens season with win at Coyote Classic

The Kansas Wesleyan Competitive Dance team opened its 2024 season on Friday afternoon as the Coyotes took first place at the Coyote Classic inside Mabee Arena.

The Coyotes claimed the victory scoring 63.7 points to win by nearly 20 points over Bethel College.

Bethel was ranked second with a score of 45.2, while McPherson was ranked third with a score of 40.4.

On the cheer side, a couple of late pull-outs by other competing teams left the Coyotes as the lone team standing at the event. The KWU cheer team ran through its routine, but did not record a score and no trophy was awarded on the cheer side.

Up next for the Coyote Cheer and Dance competition teams is a trip to York, Nebraska for the York Crown Classic on February 9.
