With a wintry mix of snow expected to begin Saturday, January 4, and continue into Sunday, January 5, the City of Salina is taking proactive measures to ensure road safety. Salting operations will focus on bridge decks and elevated surfaces ahead of the potential weather. Salt trucks are fully equipped, and staff will remain on standby, ready to deploy as needed.

Forecast Outlook:

  • Saturday Afternoon: Freezing drizzle begins developing.
  • Overnight: Freezing rain and sleet mix.
  • Sunday Morning: Transition to snow, continuing until tapering off Sunday night.

Public Safety Advisory:

The public is reminded to maintain a safe distance when approaching salt trucks from behind. These vehicles will be actively distributing salt on the roadway, and following too closely can create additional safety risks for both operators and other motorists.
