With weather forecasts expecting a wintry mix of snow Monday (December 25) and Tuesday (December 26), the City of Salina will have salt trucks equipped and staff on standby ready to be deployed when the need arises.

Weather Outlook: Christmas Day and Tuesday are expected to be affected by wintry conditions, with the possibility of additional rounds of rain on Christmas Day. However, there is an increasing likelihood that rain will transition into a mix or change to snow. The chance of rain and snow may persist into Tuesday (Dec. 26th). Road temperatures are anticipated to hover just above freezing, reducing the likelihood of significant snow accumulation.

Safety Measures: The public is asked to allow ample space when approaching salt trucks from behind, as the equipment will be distributing salt to the roadway. Driving too closely to equipment could also present additional challenges and safety concerns for operators and other motorists.

Stay Informed: For more information on the storm or details about snow removal operations, residents are encouraged to visit the City’s website at http://www.salina-ks.gov/, check updates on the City’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/salina.ks.gov/, or contact the General Services office at (785) 309-5750. The city remains committed to ensuring the safety of its residents during winter weather conditions.
