Salina, KS — The City of Salina has introduced the Salina Safety Action Plan (CSAP) website, a new resource dedicated to making transportation safer for all residents—whether they are walking, using mobility devices, biking, taking public transit, or driving. Launched as part of the CSAP initiative that began in summer 2024, the website aims to reduce road deaths and serious injuries by mid-2025, aligning with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Safe Streets for All (SS4A) program.
With more than 40,000 road fatalities annually in the U.S., including over 400 in Kansas, Salina’s CSAP is part of a broader commitment to Vision Zero—the goal of eliminating fatalities and severe injuries on city streets. The plan includes specific targets for fatality reduction, a safety analysis to identify high-risk areas, policy reviews, strategic project selection, and regular progress updates. Following the USDOT’s Safe System Approach, the CSAP focuses on safer road users, safer roads, safer vehicles, appropriate speeds, and effective post-crash care.
Residents are encouraged to participate in this safety initiative by completing a brief survey on transportation safety needs. Feedback from the community will play an essential role in shaping future safety improvements. For more information or to share input, visit the CSAP website at salinacsap.com.
