The Salina City Commission has unanimously approved a Development Agreement with the Salina Airport Authority (SAA), facilitating improvements to Water Well Road adjacent to the Airport Industrial Center No. 3 Subdivision.
The SAA plans to build a warehouse on a 20-acre site within their 80.42-acre tract south of Water Well Road. Before obtaining building permits, the land must be platted, annexed, zoned, and have public street access and utilities.
The preliminary plat, approved by the Planning Commission on July 2, 2024, shows the property divided into three industrial lots with access from Water Well Road and two internal streets, Scanlan Avenue and Swanson Drive. The unimproved Centennial Road forms the eastern boundary of the subdivision.
The SAA requested to defer upgrading Water Well Road, a matter referred to the City Commission. The agreement outlines responsibilities for street and sidewalk improvements, balancing development needs with infrastructure requirements.
With the agreement in place, the SAA can proceed with its development plans, ensuring necessary improvements to support the new industrial facilities and enhance local infrastructure.
