Children Suspected of Arson After Small Fires Break Out at Assaria City Park

On March 26th, the Assaria Fire Department responded to a call at the Assaria City Park, with assistance from Saline County Deputies. The initial report, made at 5:10 pm, indicated a trash can ablaze in the park. Upon arrival, responders discovered another fire inside a trash can that had been taken into the concessions stand. Firefighters promptly extinguished the flames, though the concession stand's trash can sustained $150 worth of damage. Reports emerged of two children fleeing the scene, who were successfully located. Identified as a 10-year-old and a 13-year-old, both from Assaria, they are now under investigation for arson, with charges pending.
