SALINA — On July 9, 2025, at approximately 2:30 PM, officers with the Salina Police Department responded to a reported burglary at Gordine Auto Service, located at 500 W. North Street.
Employees reported that the business had been unoccupied over the noon hour. Upon returning, they noticed food items—specifically chips—scattered on the floor. Surveillance footage reviewed by staff showed a male suspect entering the building during their absence. Once inside, the suspect allegedly took a Dell laptop, valued at approximately $200, along with a bag of chips and bread. No signs of forced entry were found.
Officers reviewed the video and were able to identify the suspect.
Later that evening, around 6:00 PM, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of South Ohio, where a man was reported lying in the grass. Upon arrival, officers identified the individual as the suspect from the earlier burglary.
Police observed the man had visible facial injuries. He informed officers that earlier in the day, prior to the burglary, he had been assaulted by multiple unknown individuals at 781 N. Broadway. He claimed to have been struck several times in the face and stated that a bicycle and some medication were stolen from him during the assault.
The suspect was transported to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with facial fractures and an eye injury requiring surgery. He was admitted for treatment.
The Dell laptop was not recovered. Warrants are being requested in connection with the burglary.
