Burglary in Progress Leads to Arrest on Baker Street

On August 2 at 6:00 am, police were dispatched to a duplex in the 400 block of Baker Street following reports of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers found a female attempting to break into the residence with a hatchet. The suspect was identified as 52-year-old Andrea Randecker of Salina.

Randecker claimed that her cell phone had been stolen and tracked it to this residence. Believing the phone was inside, she attempted to break in. In the process, she damaged a metal door and the frame of a window screen. The resident, a 24-year-old male who did not know Randecker, was awakened by the noise of her banging on the door. Randecker also admitted she intended to threaten the male resident.

Randecker was arrested and is facing charges of aggravated burglary and criminal threat.
