Burglary at First Southern Baptist Church Ends in Arrest
Just after midnight on August 2, police were dispatched to the First Southern Baptist Church at 2401 South Ohio Street following reports of a burglary. The church's live-streaming cameras had captured someone inside the building using a flashlight.
A keyholder arrived to unlock the building for police officers. Inside, they found the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Joseph Daniel Graham. During the incident, Graham had caused significant damage: he broke a trophy valued at $200, damaged a digital light control panel worth $1,000, and ruined a musical wall plug costing $111. Additionally, he put out his cigarettes on the carpet, resulting in yet-to-be-determined damage.
Graham also indulged himself, opening coffee creamer bottles and consuming blueberry Pop-Tarts found within the church. According to his statement, he entered the building through an unlocked door.
Graham has been charged with burglary, damage to property, and theft.
