Burglary and Vehicle Theft Reported on East North Street

On Wednesday morning, a couple living on the 4900 block of East North Street reported that their residence had been burglarized and their vehicle stolen. The incident occurred between 7:00 AM and 12:30 PM, while the residents were away. The couple had turned on their security system at 12:30 PM.

The suspects gained entry to the home, leaving muddy footprints in the kitchen and disturbing items in the bedroom. They then stole a Walther P22 handgun valued at $300 from a nightstand. Additionally, the suspects broke into an outbuilding and stole a white 1991 Jeep Renegade with a black top, valued at $5,000 and bearing Kansas license plate 1172AEZ.

The Sheriffs suspect the burglary and vehicle theft may be related to a vehicle pursuit that occurred the previous night, in which a suspect abandoned a vehicle approximately a quarter mile from the victims' residence. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to identify the suspects.
