SALINA, KS β The City of Salina has announced the immediate closure of vehicular access to Bill Burke Memorial Park due to rising safety concerns and increased visitor traffic. The decision follows forecasts from the NOAA River Forecast Center indicating that the Smoky Hill River is expected to crest above flood stage on Thursday morning.
The closure is being implemented as a precaution to protect public safety, given the potential for flooding in the area. While the park remains open to pedestrians, all vehicle entry is prohibited until further notice.
City officials stated that updates will be provided as conditions evolve.
