BREAKING | Saline County Attorney Files Charges in Juvenile Shooting Death

The Saline County Attorney’s Office has filed formal charges against a juvenile in connection with the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy earlier this month in south Salina.

According to a release issued January 6, 2026, Collin Michael Arroyo, a juvenile, has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Murder in the 2nd Degree (Reckless)
  • Criminal Use of a Weapon
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of a Hallucinogenic Drug
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The Saline County Attorney’s Office confirmed that an attorney and a guardian ad litem have been appointed to represent Arroyo. He remains in custody at this time.

Arroyo’s next court appearance is scheduled for January 12, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.

The charges stem from a shooting that occurred at a private single-family residence in the 100 block of Raleigh Street. The victim was transported to a Wichita hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

This case remains within the juvenile court system, and additional proceedings will continue as scheduled.
