UPDATE: The 14 year old victim of the shooting incident has been transported to a Wichita hospital where they remain in critical condition.
A 15 year old male acquaintance of the victim has been arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on charges of Aggravated Battery and Criminal use of a Weapon.
This incident remains under investigation with additional arrests and charges possible.
Update: At 9:41 PM on January 2 nd , 2026 Salina Police Communications received a report of a shooting in a south Salina neighborhood.
Officers responded and located a juvenile male victim with a single gunshot wound. That individual was transported to the Salina Regional Health
Center by ambulance where they remain in critical condition.
All individuals of interest with the incident have been identified and the incident is currently under investigation with updates to follow.
Salina Police responded Friday evening to a reported shooting in the 1400 block of Raleigh involving a juvenile male.
According to initial information, officers and emergency crews were dispatched for a report of a 14-year-old male who had been shot in the head. The juvenile was reported to be unconscious at the scene and breathing.
Preliminary details indicate the shooting is believed to have been accidental. A female occupant was reportedly not in the room at the time the firearm discharged but was present in the residence.
Emergency medical services are transporting the juvenile for medical treatment. The extent of the injuries has not been released.
