SALINA, KS (Aug. 1, 2025) β The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is alerting residents about a new scam involving fraudulent text messages that falsely claim to be from KDOT and the Kansas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The texts threaten enforcement action over supposed unpaid traffic tickets and urge recipients to make immediate payments.
KDOT has confirmed it does not collect money for traffic violations or tolls, and it will never request payment via text message. These messages are not legitimate and are designed to steal personal and financial information.
Salina311 has received multiple reports from local citizens who just received this scam message, making it clear this is an active and ongoing threat in our area.

- Do not share personal or financial information
- Report the scam to the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov or the Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov
