A 3.4 magnitude earthquake at 4:21 PM occurred just outside of Lindsborg, Kansas, on Saturday afternoon and was felt by residents in Salina and the surrounding areas, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
The earthquake was recorded at 4:21 PM Central Time, with a depth of 5.7 kilometers. While relatively minor, the tremor was noticeable to many across Central Kansas and prompted reports across social media from Salina-area residents who felt the shake.
Earthquakes of this magnitude are considered minor but can still be felt, particularly in areas with shallow depth and solid ground conditions. The USGS is continuing to monitor the area, and a 2.7 aftershock was recorded at 5:33 PM.
