SALINA, KS – August 3, 2025
A 3.3 magnitude earthquake struck just southeast of Assaria, Kansas, on Sunday, August 3 at 5:35 PM Central Time, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake was centered approximately 6 kilometers (about 3.7 miles) southeast of Assaria, with a depth of 5.0 kilometers. The coordinates were recorded at 38.641°N, 97.545°W.
Residents across Salina and surrounding areas have reported feeling the tremor, marking the second time in two days Central Kansas has experienced noticeable seismic activity. The previous event—a 2.7 magnitude quake near Lindsborg—occurred on Saturday afternoon.
No injuries or damage have been reported at this time. The USGS is continuing to monitor the area for any aftershocks.
