SALINE COUNTY, KS — July 11, 2025 — The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued a boil water advisory for customers of Saline County Rural Water District No. 3 due to a waterline break that caused a loss of pressure in the distribution system.
Loss of water pressure can lead to inadequate chlorine levels and potential bacterial contamination. As a result, residents and businesses connected to this rural water district are urged to follow the safety precautions below until further notice:
Precautions:
- Boil water for at least one minute before drinking, brushing teeth, washing fruits/vegetables, or using for food preparation.
- Use bottled water when possible.
- Do not use ice from automatic icemakers or previously made ice. Discard all ice cubes made with tap water.
- Flush dirty tap water by running the faucet until clear.
- Disinfect dishes and surfaces by soaking in tap water with one teaspoon of unscented bleach per gallon of water for at least one minute.
- Bathing is generally safe, but young children should be supervised to avoid accidental ingestion. People with open wounds or severe rashes should consult a physician before exposure.
The advisory will remain in effect until KDHE confirms the water is safe through laboratory testing.
