Big Boy Returning to Salina

The famed 75 year old Union Pacific steam locomotive is returning to Salina.

If you were one of the hundreds who gathered around the old Union Pacific depot as Big Boy chugged into town in November 2019, you will definitely want a second glimpse.

Big Boy No. 4014 departed Cheyenne, Wyoming on Aug. 5, traveling through Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Illinois, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming. Along the way, the Big Boy will be on display in the following cities during the tour:

Big Boy is one of only a few steam locomotives left in running condition in the world. He gets his name because he's also one of the largest.

Big Boy will be arriving in Salina at 6pm on Thursday, September 2, and departing at 9am on Friday, September 3.
