KWU Baseball falls twice to Concordia
Kansas Wesleyan Baseball dropped a pair of games to the Concordia Bulldogs on Tuesday night at Dean Evans Stadium. Concordia won the first game 14-5, and the second 5-2.
In the opener, the Coyotes fell behind early in the top of the first 4-0, but in the bottom of the frame Tyler Favretto homered to get the Coyotes on the board.
Concordia added a run in the third, and two more in the fourth before the Coyotes got two back in the bottom of the fourth in Zach Long's 2-run double, and then added two more on Jacob Williamson's 2-run homer to make it 7-5.
The Bulldogs got three more in the fifth, and two in the sixth and seventh innings to pull away for the 14-5 win.
Zach Westbook took the loss, allowing six runs on five hits. Six different players had one hit each for the Coyotes.
In the second game, the Coyotes took an early lead on Jarrett Gable's RBI single in the bottom of the first inning, but the Bulldogs got a 2-run homer in the top of the third to take a 2-1 lead.
Back came the Coyotes, tying things back up on Tyler Favretto's homer in the third.
Concordia broke the tie in the fifth with a homer, and added two more runs in the sixth to claim the win.
Ritter Steinmann suffered the loss for the Coyotes allowing three runs, two earned on three hits in two innings of relief of starter Nathan Galusha, who went three innings. Five different players had hits for the Coyotes in the game.
KWU is back in action on Wednesday, hosting Hastings College in a single game starting at 6 p.m. at Dean Evans Stadium.
