A fire destroyed a barn and significantly damaged an adjacent house Sunday afternoon at 3008 North Gypsum Valley Road, with investigators examining multiple potential causes.
Property owner Billy Jeffrey, 67, was not present when the blaze occurred. Emergency responders arrived to find the barn completely engulfed, with flames spreading to cause substantial damage to the nearby residence.
Fire investigators are exploring two primary theories for the fire's origin. The blaze may have resulted from a rekindled controlled burn that had been conducted recently in the area, or from electrical problems in wiring that connected the barn to other outbuildings on the property.
Local fire and law enforcement officials responded to the scene and continue their investigation into the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported in the incident.
