Arrest Made After Disturbance at Salina Motel

A Salina man was arrested Saturday night following a disturbance at the Airliner Motel on North Broadway.

Police responded to the motel at 781 N. Broadway around 10:00 PM on January 18 after receiving reports of three men attempting to enter a room and making threats. A motel employee reported confronting two white males and one black male who claimed they were locked out of a room. When informed they weren't registered guests, the subjects allegedly threatened the employee before leaving the premises.

Officers arriving at the scene observed a male matching one of the suspects' descriptions. The individual fled on foot, leading to a perimeter being established. Police located the suspect hiding under a vehicle in the 700 block of North 11th Street.

The suspect was identified as Gunnerkye Rairden, 26, of Salina. During a search of the area, officers recovered a 9mm handgun and marijuana.

Rairden was booked into the Saline County Jail on multiple charges including interference with law enforcement, criminal possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and criminal threat.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
