April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
Child Advocacy and Parenting Services, Inc. (CAPS) wants to bring awareness to the issue of child abuse and neglect throughout April for Child Abuse Prevention Month. CAPS presents numerous opportunities during the month of April for advocates to engage in.

The Child Advocacy & Parenting Services (CAPS) 35th Annual Benefit Auction is online April 5-7. Register today at 2024CAPSauction.givesmart.com to bid. For 35 years, you have learned to expect great packages featuring trips, spa days, local services, original art, certificates your favorite stores and restaurants. This year is no different, and again, its online AND you can support CAPS from the comfort of your car, couch, kids’ activities or WHEREVER you are. The auction will run for 50 hours on April 5-7. You will see all of the fantastic items when we receive them so you can start planning on which items to purchase for a fabulous cause.
Go Blue Salina Fundraiser to raise awareness at local businesses. CAPS is inviting businesses to raise funds by encouraging employees to wear denim for a $5 donation. To participate, contact CAPS at 785-825-4493 for stickers and display materials. Then, post photos of your employees showing off their blue with the hashtags #CAPMonth2024, #Pinwheels4Prevention and tag @capsofsalina on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Pinwheels are the national symbol for Child Abuse Prevention. A pinwheel garden is making its way through the neighborhoods, and you can help plant these symbols for the “Pinwheels for Prevention Challenge.” Visit www.capsofsalina.org to commit a $25 donation to “plant” the pinwheel in your yard, or a friend’s yard, to spread awareness about child abuse prevention. Make sure to post pictures and tag CAPS with the hashtags #Pinwheels4Prevention, wish to display pinwheels can contact CAPS for a pinwheel bouquet for their lobbies or windows to display for the entire month for a suggested $100 donation.
All proceeds from the CAPS Auction, wearing blue, and the Pinwheels support programs aimed at preventing child abuse. CAPS is a 501(c)3 charitable organization with both prevention and intervention programs designed to reduce risk factors associated with child abuse and neglect. Our community collaborations respond to a variety of human needs and conditions keeping appropriate child development in the center of all strategies. By giving to this cause, you are personally helping to support CAPS mission of improving children’s lives and strengthening families through education, advocacy and support.
