American Red Cross Appeals for Increased Blood Donations

The American Red Cross is currently grappling with a trend of decreased donor turnout, necessitating an appeal to all eligible blood donors. The organization has faced a shortfall of approximately 25,000 blood donations during the initial two months of the summer season. This scarcity has posed significant challenges in maintaining an adequate supply of life-saving blood products on hospital shelves. The need is for proactive individuals to step forward and schedule blood donations throughout the month of August, thus averting the risk of a national blood supply shortage.

The significance of blood donations cannot be overstated, with someone in the United States requiring blood every two seconds. This someone could be a neighbor, a cherished friend, or a beloved family member. By contributing to this cause, donors play a pivotal role in ensuring hospitals' preparedness for any eventuality.

  • Monday, August 28: Noon to 6:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 29: Noon to 6:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 30: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
