Salina, KS – February 13, 2025 – The Salina Airport Authority (SAA) has announced that Amazon has purchased 20 acres in the Airport Industrial Center Subdivision No. 3 and will construct a 90,000-square-foot last-mile distribution facility at 1850 W. Water Well Rd. This project is expected to bring at least 100 new jobs to the area and further position Salina as a key logistics hub in Kansas.
Boosting Regional Logistics & Job Growth
The new facility will enhance Amazon’s last-mile delivery network, ensuring faster service for customers in rural communities. Packages will arrive from Amazon fulfillment and sortation centers, where employees will process them for final delivery. Employees in customer fulfillment and transportation roles will earn at least $17 per hour.
This facility will anchor the 80-acre industrial subdivision, which is undergoing infrastructure improvements, including new roads and utilities. The Salina Airport Authority has already begun construction to support Amazon’s site and future expansion of the industrial park.
Strategic Location & Economic Impact
Salina’s central location, skilled workforce, and strong transportation network played a key role in Amazon’s decision to expand here. The Salina Regional Airport, located adjacent to the development, offers daily nonstop flights to Chicago, Houston, and Denver, connecting businesses to major markets.
The Salina Regional Airport and Industrial Center is home to over 125 businesses, employing more than 7,000 workers, and contributes $1.3 billion annually to the Kansas economy. Amazon’s presence is expected to further drive economic growth, job creation, and innovation in the region.
Local & State Leaders Applaud Amazon’s Investment
Pieter Miller, Executive Director of the Salina Airport Authority, emphasized the significance of Amazon’s investment:
“Amazon’s decision to establish a facility here is a major milestone for Salina and Kansas. This project will create jobs, attract further development, and reinforce Salina’s position as a regional hub for logistics and advanced industries.”
