Early this morning, police were dispatched to the hospital at 2:00 am following a report of an aggravated battery that occurred near the 100 block of Taylor Court and Georgia Avenue.
A 65-year-old male victim sustained a major eye injury and was transported to Wichita for treatment. The victim stated he went to a specific house in the area to meet a female but received no response at the door. While waiting in his blue Chevy Venture van, he was confronted by a white male he potentially knows but was not able to identify.
The confrontation escalated when the suspect asked why the victim was there, and the suspect hit the victim in the face, possibly with a pipe, before fleeing. The victim drove himself to the hospital. The Salina Police Department has not released any potential suspect names as the investigation continues.
