Affidavit Outlines Alleged Alcohol, Drug, and Snapchat Messages Between Teacher and Students

Salina, Kan. — A Salina middle school teacher is facing a series of allegations, including providing alcohol and marijuana to juveniles, driving them while intoxicated, and maintaining inappropriate contact with a former student, according to an affidavit filed by the Salina Police Department.

Amanda Lynne Freeman, who teaches at South Middle School, is named in the sworn affidavit signed by Detective A. Carswell. The document outlines claims made by a parent and statements made by Freeman herself during police interviews. It forms the basis for a series of felony and misdemeanor charges, though none of the allegations have yet been proven in court.

Mother’s Account and Snapchat Communications

The case began on Sept. 6, when the mother of a Salina teenager reported to police that she discovered troubling messages between her son and Freeman. She told officers she had been monitoring her son’s phone for months out of concern he was “talking to suspicious people.”

That evening, after the boy provided his passcode, she examined his Snapchat messages more closely and discovered a contact saved as “Mrs. Freeman.” The affidavit states she initially trusted Freeman, but after reviewing the conversations, she realized “how strange the interaction really was.”

According to the affidavit, the mother told police she believed Freeman and her son “were having sexual relations.” She also provided a Snapchat screenshot that appeared to show Freeman with her son while holding an alcohol bottle. Investigators noted that most of the alleged communications took place over Snapchat, a platform where images and messages typically disappear unless saved.

The mother further expressed concern that other juveniles were involved, alleging Freeman not only communicated with her son’s friends but also supplied them with alcohol, vape pens, and marijuana.

Allegations of Alcohol and Marijuana

Freeman allegedly stated in the court documents that she furnished them (students) with alcohol, including Twisted Tea and Jack Daniel’s. Freeman reportedly admitted to buying a bottle of “Pink Whitney” alcohol for one juvenile, telling officers, “I was unsure what he did with the bottle after I gave it to him.”

The affidavit states Freeman also admitted to having THC products in a safe at her home, including cannabis-infused gummies, vape cartridges, and pre-rolled marijuana. She further acknowledged providing “Joy Bombs,” a cannabis edible she said she purchased in Missouri, to at least one juvenile.

In another interview, Freeman allegedly told detectives she once purchased marijuana from a former student and gave it to a juvenile. She said the juveniles later took the marijuana cartridge from her, but that she eventually “got the cart back … when I went home.”

Driving While Intoxicated

The affidavit also describes instances in which Freeman allegedly drove students while impaired. Freeman admitted to detectives that she was “very intoxicated” at a graduation party and texted a student, "asking if he knew where she could buy marijuana.” She later told investigators: “I shouldn’t have been driving because I was very intoxicated.”

Based on the affidavit, prosecutors are seeking multiple charges against Freeman, including:

  • Felony contributing to a child’s misconduct
  • Aggravated endangering a child
  • Distribution of marijuana
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Unlawful social hosting
  • Furnishing alcohol to a minor

The allegations are supported by witness testimony, photographs, and screenshots collected by police. Freeman allegedly admitted to several of the claims during interviews, though at times she denied knowing whether juveniles had consumed alcohol or marijuana at her home.
