Salina is gearing up for a loud, high-horsepower sendoff as the Salina Central Mustangs football team heads to Great Bend for Friday’s Sub-State playoff game.
In a community show of support, a lineup of Ford Mustangs will escort the team bus west along Crawford Street. The sendoff is organized by The Garage Automotive Museum, Long McArthur Ford, The South-Central Mustang Club of Kansas, and members of the Thursday Night Cruisers.
The caravan is expected to leave around 2:30 p.m. Friday, creating a rolling display of Mustang pride as the convoy travels toward the edge of town. Residents are encouraged to line the route and cheer as the players roll out for their postseason matchup.
Executive Director Michelle Peck, who helped coordinate the event, said the goal is simple: give the team a sendoff that reflects the community’s pride and excitement.
The escort will accompany the bus to the west side of Salina before the team continues on to Great Bend.
Salina fans are invited to show their support along Crawford Street as the Mustangs pursue a trip to the state championship.
