Salina, KS β The 2024 Salina Downtown Parade of Lights is set for Saturday, November 23, at 6:00 p.m., with the deadline to enter approaching quickly on Monday, November 18, at noon. The festive parade will travel along Santa Fe Avenue, beginning at Elm and ending at Prescott, bringing holiday cheer to the community.
Pre-parade performances will kick off at 5:00 p.m. on the City Lights Stage. Performers interested in joining the pre-parade entertainment can register in advance, but no stops for performances are permitted along the parade route.
Organizers have outlined safety and operational guidelines for participants:
- Each float must have two escorts (one on each side) to maintain safe distances between floats and spectators.
- Candy distribution is allowed only by parade walkers, with no candy thrown from floats or vehicles.
- Salina Downtown has arranged for the βrealβ Santa Claus, so participants are asked not to include Santa in any entry.
Salina Downtown, Inc. has also established specific guidelines for illuminated entries:
- Electrical wiring must be secured, of suitable capacity, and free of open splices or frayed areas.
- Portable generators must be securely mounted with a minimum 12-inch clearance from flammable materials, uncovered, and not placed in enclosed spaces.
- Open flames are prohibited on all floats and towing vehicles.
