16-Year-Old Arrested for Alleged Threat Against Salina Central Homecoming Dance
Salina Police and USD 305 officials are investigating an alleged threat of a school shooting made in connection with a high school dance, resulting in the arrest of a student.
SPD was alerted on Saturday evening to a threat made on social media against Central High School. A 16-year-old Central High student had reportedly made comments about "shooting everyone at this dance."
Upon further investigation by police and school resource officers, the threat was found to be directed at the Salina Central Homecoming dance. USD 305 and school officials were notified immediately, and the juvenile suspect was located off-campus by officers.
The student was arrested on suspicion of making a criminal threat and was transported to the Saline County Jail.
Police have stated that there is no ongoing threat to students or staff at Central High based on their investigation. The Salina Police Department expressed gratitude for the swift cooperation of district and school officials in ensuring the safety of students and emphasized their commitment to prompt investigations and actions to protect the community.
