KWU's Ware Earns At-Large Berth to ITA Cup
Kansas Wesleyan's Bryce Ware has earned an at-large berth to the ITA Cup which begins October 12 in Rome, Georgia.
The Rome Tennis Center at Berry College will play host to the ITA Cup for all divisions of college tennis. Sixteen qualifiers earned spots at the NAIA level, the eight regional champions and eight at-large berths.
It's another first for the Coyote junior, who last month reached the ITA Regional Final, a program first, going the distance with regional No. 1 seed Vaclav Schneider of William Woods in a three-set thriller in the final.
At the ITA Regional hosted by KWU late last month, Ware, the No. 2 overall seed, won his first five matches before facing Schneider in the finals. Ware won the first set, but dropped the second. Ware trailed 4-0 in the third, but came back to tie it at 4-4, and again at 5-5 before eventually falling in the final.
Ware has posted an 11-1 record so far this fall season.
