The case unfolded when a 44-year-old individual reported his red 2007 Dodge Ram 1500, valued at $6,000, as stolen. The victim had lent the truck to 31-year-old Payton Nieman on Tuesday, November 7, for an appointment. Concern arose when Nieman allegedly failed to return the vehicle and did not respond to phone calls.

Salina Police entered the vehicle as stolen. Sedgwick County later became involved in a pursuit with the reported stolen vehicle. While details of the pursuit remain undisclosed, it is believed that Nieman was the driver.

The pursuit concluded with an accident involving the stolen truck. As of the latest update, Nieman is reportedly in the custody of Sedgwick County.
